THE HIDDEN TRUTH ABOUT BIAFRA AND MNK'S DETENTION: WHAT NIGERIANS ARE NOT BEING TOLD
In a time when Nigeria is facing one of its most turbulent political and security crises, the continued detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu (MNK), the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), raises deep and troubling questions.
Many Nigerians — both at home and in the diaspora — are asking: Why is MNK still in custody despite multiple court orders calling for his release? Why is the government silent on his deteriorating health condition? And most importantly, what is the real reason behind the federal government's refusal to obey its own judiciary?
1. A DEFIANCE OF JUSTICE
Since his extraordinary rendition in 2021 — a process condemned internationally — Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has been detained under questionable legal grounds. Multiple court rulings, including those from Nigeria’s own Appeal Court, have ordered his release, yet the DSS continues to hold him in solitary confinement.
His legal team filed a no-case submission, which is currently under judicial consideration. This submission argues that the government has failed to produce any credible evidence to justify continuing the trial. Instead of allowing justice to prevail, the system appears to be buying time and prolonging injustice.
We are closely monitoring this legal maneuvering, and the world is watching too. Let it be clear: any further delay or manipulation of the legal process will not go unnoticed.
2. THE KENYA VERDICT: INTERNATIONAL CONDEMNATION IGNORED
It should not be forgotten that the High Court of Kenya, where MNK was abducted from, has already ruled that his arrest and deportation were illegal and unconstitutional. That ruling holds both moral and legal weight — yet the Nigerian government continues to act in defiance of both international law and domestic court orders.
Why is a sovereign nation like Kenya upholding justice, while Nigeria, the supposed “Giant of Africa,” tramples on it?
This is a question that future generations will ask with shame if nothing is done.
3. THE BIAFRA QUESTION: FEAR OR FREEDOM?
The call for Biafra is not new. It stems from decades of neglect, injustice, and marginalization of the Igbo people. Rather than engage the conversation with truth and fairness, the federal government has treated the movement as terrorism, while true terrorists in the North roam freely without prosecution.
What exactly is the government afraid of? Is it the truth that Biafra represents? Or is it the fear of accountability for the years of injustice against the Southeast?
4. THE ROLE OF THE MEDIA: SILENCE OR COMPLICITY?
Mainstream media in Nigeria rarely give balanced reports on MNK. They often follow the government narrative, labelling him as a threat without presenting the full picture. Why is the media silent on the torture reports? Why are they not covering the illegal detentions and human rights violations?
Is this silence sponsored? Or is it part of a wider plan to keep the masses in the dark?
5. INTERNATIONAL HYPOCRISY: WHERE IS THE UN AND AU?
The United Nations and African Union are quick to speak against injustice in other parts of the world. But when it comes to Biafra and MNK, their lips remain sealed. Why?
The same bodies that condemned the war in Gaza have failed to act on the silent war in Nigeria is a war of suppression, political imprisonment, and ethnic bias.
Let it be known: Biafrans are not second-class Africans. Their rights matter too.
6. A CALL TO CONSCIENCE: THE VOICE OF THE PEOPLE MUST RISE
As the voice of the people, I must speak out. If we remain silent, history will remember us as cowards. Whether you support Biafra or not, no one deserves to be treated like a criminal for asking for freedom.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu deserves a fair trial, medical attention, and justice. And the Nigerian people deserve transparency and truth.
✅ CONCLUSION
The truth is simple: Nigeria cannot silence a people forever. Suppression has never worked, and it never will. Justice delayed is justice denied — and the longer MNK is kept behind bars, the louder the cry for Biafra will become.
The ongoing no-case submission must not be politicized. The Kenyan court has already spoken. The world is watching. We are watching. History is recording.
