PVC REGISTRATION AND CORRECTION GUIDE: WHAT TO DO AS INEC RESUMES VOTER REGISTRATION IN AUGUST 2025

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially announced the resumption of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) across the country. This is a major opportunity for Nigerians to either:

Register for the first time, or

Correct errors on their voter records, or

Replace lost/damaged PVCs, or

Transfer to a new polling unit.

Below is an easy, step-by-step guide to help you through the process, based on the official schedule.

πŸ“… INEC REGISTRATION SCHEDULE

Online Registration: Begins August 18, 2025

In-Person Registration: Begins August 25, 2025

Venue: INEC LGA Office or other designated locations within your area.

πŸ” WHO SHOULD TAKE PART?

You should take part if:

✅ You have never registered before (first-time voter)

✅ You turned 18 recently and are now eligible to vote

✅ Your previous PVC is lost, stolen, or damaged

✅ You want to correct an error in your name, age, gender, or polling unit

✅ You’ve relocated and need to transfer your voter registration to your new residence

🧭 STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO PVC REGISTRATION OR CORRECTION

STEP 1: ONLINE PRE-REGISTRATION (From August 18)

Go to the official INEC portal: https://cvr.inecnigeria.org

From there, you can:

Start a new registration

Request a change of polling unit

Apply for a correction of personal details

Replace your lost or damaged PVC

Fill in your personal data and select a date and location for biometric capture.

Print or screenshot the registration slip and take it to the center on your scheduled day.

STEP 2: PHYSICAL (IN-PERSON) REGISTRATION (From August 25)

Whether or not you did the online pre-registration, you must visit the registration center for biometric capture.

πŸ“ Where to go:

INEC Local Government Area office

Community centers or schools as designated by INEC

πŸ“ What happens there?

Officials will confirm your identity

Your fingerprints, photo, and signature will be captured

You’ll be issued a Temporary Voter Card (TVC)

STEP 3: ERROR CORRECTION OR INFORMATION UPDATE

You can correct any of the following:

Misspelled name

Wrong date of birth

Incorrect gender

Mistaken address or polling unit.

During registration, simply inform the INEC official of the specific error you want to fix. They will update it on their system and issue you a new record.

πŸ“Œ Note: You must present proof or explanation for changes to be approved.

STEP 4: PVC COLLECTION

INEC will later announce when the Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) are ready for collection. Go back to the same center with your TVC.

πŸͺͺ Your PVC will be issued to you after verification. Keep it safe — this is your ticket to vote in any Nigerian election.

πŸ”” FINAL REMINDERS

Registration is 100% free — do not pay anyone to register you.

Do not register more than once — double registration is a crime.

Only Nigerians 18 years and above are eligible.

No PVC, no voting!

πŸ—£️ A CALL TO ACTION

> You are hereby urged to sensitize others, your parents, children, friends, brothers and sisters.

> Your vote is your power!

> The opportunity has presented itself for us to prove our numerical strength. Let no one be left behind.

✍️ As the voice of the people, I must remind us all:

We cannot complain about bad governance if we do not register to vote. This is more than a civic responsibility — it is a moral obligation.

πŸ—³️ Register. Correct your record. Collect your PVC. Vote wisely.
