THANK YOU ALL – A MESSAGE FROM PETER OBI
As the Voice of the People, I find it important to amplify voices that reflect humility, integrity, and service to the nation. Peter Obi, a statesman of principle, has once again reminded us what leadership should truly mean—not self-celebration, but sacrificial service.
From the bottom of his heart, Mr. Obi has expressed sincere gratitude to everyone who sent birthday wishes from around the world. He remains deeply thankful to all who marked the day particularly Nigerian youths, the Obidient family, and members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, known for their apostolate to the poor.
But true to his character, Peter Obi reaffirms that he does not celebrate birthdays. When he turned 50 while serving as Governor, many individuals and institutions brought plans to honour him. One institution offered to build him a ₦120 million home. He declined, asking them to use the money to build classrooms in Agulu, Ekwulobia, and Abatete. They did and the result was lasting.
Another group planned a ₦20 million party. He redirected them to donate desktop computers to schools. They gave 200 units. Another organisation donated buses, which were distributed to educational and service institutions, including the Old Rangers Association.
This is what real leadership looks like. On each birthday, instead of indulging in lavish celebrations, Peter Obi chooses to redirect goodwill into meaningful impact.
As he turned 64, he reminded the nation again that in the face of suffering, hunger, and hopelessness, there is no joy in merriment. He called on well-wishers to channel their resources toward helping the poor, and strengthening education and healthcare systems. This is not politics, this is purpose.
From Rome, at the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels and the Martyrs, Peter Obi prayed not for himself—but for the nation. He prayed that Nigerian leaders will realise that public funds are meant for public good.
As the Voice of the People, we echo this call. Let all those in power know: Leadership is not about title—it is about impact.
Let us follow this example. Let us build classrooms, feed the hungry, equip our schools, and hold our leaders accountable.
We rise not just in solidarity—but in responsibility.
Peter Obi has spoken. The people are listening.
