As Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections, many people are concerned about the recent defections from the Labour Party (LP). Some elected members have left the party, causing confusion and disappointment, especially among loyal supporters and youths who believe in the LP’s mission for a better Nigeria.

However, in an exclusive interview held in Ette, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, Dr. Peter Onoja, a respected public figure and strong supporter of the Labour Party, spoke out to calm the fears of Nigerians.

According to Dr. Onoja, there is no reason to worry.

> “There is absolutely no need to panic. Before the 2023 elections, Labour Party had no single elected official. Yet we became a force that shook the political foundations of this country. Defections mean nothing if the people remain united.”

He reminded everyone that the Labour Party grew because of the people's support and belief in change, not because of politicians who are now defecting. He believes that 2027 is not a threat but an opportunity to elect better leaders.

> “We will only elect trusted and loyal members come 2027. Those who jump ship today for selfish reasons will regret it tomorrow.”

Dr. Onoja also expressed his full loyalty to Mr. Peter Obi, whom he described as the symbol of the Labour movement.

> “My political destiny is tied to Peter Obi. Wherever he goes, I will follow. Until Obi tells us that Labour Party is no longer safe, I see no reason to worry or run.”

Reacting strongly to those who left the party, he described them as politicians who are only looking for personal gain. He warned that they would eventually face failure.

> “These decampees will suffer woefully. Let no loyal LP member cry over them. Let us be strong, courageous, and focused on the bigger picture.”

Dr. Onoja ended the interview by urging Labour Party supporters not to be distracted. He encouraged them to stay united and remember the original mission of the movement.

> “Our strength is in our unity and vision, not in names. 2027 will be our victory, with or without them.”

✊ Final Word

In times like this, voices like Dr. Peter Onoja’s are important. While some politicians run after positions and power, others stand for purpose and principle.

Let every Labour Party supporter remember what the party stands for:

People. Progress. Purpose.
